Privacy policy

PlayPumpkin has no accounts. I don’t collect real names, email addresses (unless you write to me), payment details or your precise location. There are no ads or analytics yet, and I will update this policy before either is added. When it changes, so does the date at the top of the page.

What your browser keeps

PlayPumpkin uses your browser’s storage, not cookies, to remember:

  • your theme (light or dark), your language and whether game sound is on;
  • the games you played recently and the ones you marked as favorites;
  • game progress, best scores and each game’s choices, such as the board size you picked and whether you have seen its first tip;
  • a key from an online game, which gets your seat back if the connection drops. It goes when you leave the room, and is no use once the room has closed.

So that games work without internet, your browser also keeps copies of the home page, up to 60 other PlayPumpkin pages you have opened, and the files they need.

All of this stays in the browser on that device. None of it is sent to me, except what an online game needs (below). To remove it, clear your browser’s site data for PlayPumpkin.

Online games

An online game goes through my room server, which runs on Cloudflare. It gets the room code from your link, the name you picked, your moves and the key for your seat, and keeps them only while the room is open. The room closes when the player who made it leaves or after 30 minutes with no move. The server then deletes everything except a note that the code was used, so no later room gets the same link.

Names come from a list. Nobody types anything, and there is no chat or account. Like any web host, Cloudflare handles your IP address to carry the connection, and it counts how often each address connects in a minute, to stop anyone flooding the server. I don’t store addresses or keep logs. Cloudflare’s privacy policy says how it treats that data.

Hosting

Vercel serves PlayPumpkin. Like any web host, it handles the technical data needed to deliver a page, such as your IP address and the address of the page you ask for. It may keep logs to protect the site from attacks. Vercel’s privacy policy says how it treats that data.

When ads or analytics start

The updated policy will name the companies involved and what they collect. It will explain how Google uses cookies to show ads and how you can opt out, and say where I ask for your consent first.

Children

PlayPumpkin is a general-audience website and is not directed at children under 13. I don’t knowingly collect personal information from children.

If you email me

I use your message and address only to reply to you and to fix what you report. I keep them only as long as I need them for that, share them with no one, and delete them if you ask.
